Description: This Japanese ash is unlike anything I have ever worked with. The wildly swirling grain is so intense, that I was afraid it would be overpowering. As soon as I began to play with patterns on top of the ash with the darker imbuya, I knew I was on to something. By keeping the overall form and the pattern of the framing parts fairly simple, it allowed the ash to speak without shouting.
